testing, but a good assumption that the OSK should appear after the user
has started touching the screen. You might have a physical keyboard but
if it's a yoga-style laptop folded 180 degrees then you definitely want

I don't know if this is the same bug but since my 17.10 updated
Thunderbird to 52.4.0 I am faced with this issue consistently.
Thunderbird is unusable this way and I have manually installed a 52.3.0
version to be able to manage my e-mail.
This happens both when running under X or Wayland. Gnome sh

The issue there is that GNOME uses caribou but orca is still installed
on upgrade (and used in unity?), the osk are activated through gnome-
session/autostart .desktop that look at their gsettings key.

It sounds like gstreamer-vaapi has found a VA driver that it thinks will
work, rather than none at all which should fall back to software
rendering.
Please install: sudo apt install vainfo
Then run 'vainfo' and paste its output here.

Confirmed on a ThinkPad too. The bug didn't occur on my desktop though.
WORKAROUND:
1. Put the PS4 controller upside down (buttons down).
2. Open the panel menu and click the second circle button (rotation lock).
