Similar here. Copied 2 files (2gb each) internally from folder to folder
then somehow nautilus crashed. 5min before I copied 3 files (à 2gb)
nautilus seemed to behave normally. But unfortunately cannot reproduce
this -> I restarted the PC and tried to copy the sames files again: all
worked fine.

Thank you for your bug report. That's more likely to be a kernel issue
than a desktop one though, gnome-power-manager is only including a
frontend to see battery stats nowadays. Is there any chance you could
try with a xenial kernel to see if that works better?
Otherwise the desktop component hand
that's fixed in the current nautilus version which has a popover dialog
for renaming
