The solution suggested by gazhai (#52) worked for me, too. I have Ubuntu
14.04.2 Classic. The only problem is tat every time I add a keyboard
shortcut I have to logout and login to get it working. Is there an
application that could do the same thing as logout-login?

I can confirm bug as well. VT switch or screen lock can trigger the bug.
Workaround is to restart shell and g-s-d.

The problem does not happen on Ubuntu 14.04.
Using the US (international, with dead keys) keyboard layout, I should
be able to write é by pressing the single quote ( ' ) key,

Zenity 3.8 version is also in 14.04 , and so in all Linux Mint 17.x , and all

The good news is that the fix has been applied upstream, so it will
trickle down to Debian and then to Ubuntu I guess, maybe in next version
15.10.
