It's been 5 years now with this bug with no intent to change it by the
devs - I don't use rhythmbox anymore for two years now.
I cannot understand the decision by Canonical to still feature this program:
it is unflexible, not lightweight in any way, buggy

I was finally able to access my camera (Canon EOS 40D) with my Ubuntu
12.10 x86_64 by killing the process /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfs-gphoto2-volume-
monitor before starting Shotwell. The import works fine then. Previously
I was getting the same error message as in the bug description.

@Gred Eden I added Nautilus as the default file manager and updated the
gvfs but the problem is NOT fixed for me.
