I upgraded from 12.04, the distribution had NOT been updated in 219 days
because it was loaded as beta, and as part of troubleshooting on a
laptop that was in the process of hardware failure... once updated, and
on 12.10, after a few days of tweaking, I decided to go ahead and set it
up, I see two

It is just my opinion but... I think that in this kind of window
(*detail* os window) I would see which version of Ubuntu I have
installed.
So I don't agree just seeing only "12.04 LTS" when the version is a
minor version like 12.04.2 LTS. I prefer see everything could be
useful.

Following the previous comment this problem is a Poppler bug and fixed
in current Poppler. Poppler 0.22.x will most probably get into Raring,
but note that the pdftops CUPS filter uses GhostScript in newer Ubuntu
versions, so the problem is probably solved at least from Quantal on.

Actually this bug wasn't fixed in precise.
I'm using Ubuntu 12.04.1 with GNOME Classic and Compiz.
The behaviour is exactly the same: first opened terminal have the size of
80x24, all subsequent terminal wind
