In nautilus 3.x i had the same problem especially with the thumbnails of
music folders. I found a solution using dconf-editor and puting the
value of icon-size to 126 in state of 64 (org/gnome/nautilus/icon-view).

I have encountered internally wired USB devices in two cases:
1. An old Thinkpad connected the internal optical drive via USB.
2. An internal card reader that fits a 3.5" drive bay and connects to a USB
header.
In both cases, a full "Eject" of the device rendered it unusable till next

In my opinion, for Ubuntu-based distributions the root cause of the bug
is in lightdm package. At least, in quantal it becomes default display
manager for all desktops including non-GNOME ones.
In files:
* /etc/pam.d/lightdm
* /etc/pam.d/lightdm-greeter
it has the following line:
session optio
If there can't be a "safely remove" option, could you at least add an
"unmount all partitions on device" option or something similar so that
people don't have to right-click and unmount X partitions separately before
they can unplug the device? I'm guessing it can't be that hard to find

Ah, quick addition to the above comment (since I can't edit). It
appears that the music on my iPod is no longer there, but just appears
in the library. The Music app just quickly skips over all the songs.
So I'm guessing the sync did actually happen, but the library is somehow
corrupted.

For what it's worth, if I go to my iPod's device properties in
Rhythmbox, and deselect the Podcasts, and then choose Sync, it DOES go
through the sync process... sort of.
When it "completes" the iPod shows as having synced, but the iPod itself
doesn't show any of the synced music. Choosing "Eject
