I have the same issue on two machines with AMD video cards with Ubuntu
10.10. Hilarious to know this issue has existed for 2 years without fix.
The only way to logout/reboot/power off when this happens is from
command line. How is this user friendly?

Similar problem running on a Clevo P150HM using Ubuntu 11.04 64 bit.
I can unplug the power from the laptop but if I plug back in the system
stops and the only way to start again is to turn off and on. If I plug
in the power while the laptop is suspended the system continues to work.

There were 2 open bugs in the Gnome bug tracker addressing this same
issue. The issue was just resolved and the the committer happened to set
the the one this LP bug was pointing to as "RESOLVED DUPLICATE".
Apparently LP translates that to invalid. I just updated this LP bug to
point to the Gnome b
Also in Natty Narwhal. Is there anything I can do to help fix this?
