It was because of my locally installed glib being out of date, although
for some reason 'apt-get install --reinstall glib2.0-0' still doesn't

I too experienced this as in post #95, however the post above (#98)
referencing disabling plugins one at a time, seems to have hit the nail
right on the head. I narrowed that down to just disabling the two
spamfilters, then re-enabling just spamassassin. It has since not hung

For me, the fix doesn't work. After starting alsamixer and choosing my
external sound card (SB X-Fi Surround 5.1) it says "This sound device
does not having any controls.". So pulseAudio seems to be the only way
to control my sound card. But this isn't a problem of the new sound
