I just did a fresh 64-bit Beta1 CD install into a VM using New York as
the location and - again - the relevant menu entry was empty.
The install was done after booting the CD into "Try out" mode and then
installing, nothing was done outside of the default install options
offered.

I believe a record button in Empathy (as the linked gnome bug suggests)
is entirely different than the telepathy integration in Jokosher (as
described for the summer of code project). I can see that if Jokosher
gets this working well and empathy doesn't fix their bug then you could

Here's how I fixed the issue: I ran a script advised on the ubuntu help
page which added the packages listed by the above answer.

Then I downloaded the two packages through synaptic package manager and
it worked perfect!!

I am having this same issue with a Pioneer DVR-218l SATA DVD Writer on
Karmic 9.10
I am unable to:
- Rip an Audio CD (Sound-juicer crashes or doesn't find the CD)
- Mount an Audio CD without crashing Nautilus
- Burn an Audio CD with Brasero
However, once the CD is in and nautilus has crashed, I

Your suggestion does not work. If I turn off the screen saver, then I
go to power manager, and set monitor to sleep after 1 minute, I will
just be looking at my desktop, and nothing will happen.
Strange is the fact that occasionally it works perfectly, and sometimes
it fails completely.

The former 60 second timeout to autoshutdown Ubuntu has apparently been removed.
I do not recall this noted as an upcoming change to the OS.
