Really a good reminder, I tried switch to Tropic from Clear Look again

On Ubuntu Lucid, gnome-power-manager doesn't control the brightness of
my display. Also, when pressing the corresponding buttons on the
keyboard, I don't get the notification bubble (notify-osd) as i did
under karmic.
All this is on
Accessing the root of a local samba share (list of about 8 files) does
not cause the 100%. Trying to open one of these subfolders pegs the CPU
at 100% and requires that the process be killed. This is from Lucid.
Accessing the share from a karmic laptop is fine.
