For further info about papercuts criteria ,
I confirm this bug (no japanese fonts in pdf) gets solved installing
poppler-data.
So it seems the fix consists in adding a new dependency to evince and/or
japanese localization packages.
A simple fix, yet this bug has been opened 2 years. In 9.10, i still need to
install poppler-data manually (

I've had hibernate issues since 8.10 too on my Inspiron 9400. Karmic
will suspend once and/or hibernate once per boot, then hangs on the next

Same problem here. KDE and XFCE battery indicators work well. And
besides the GNOME battery indicator in the panel doesn't show the right
icon, GNOME doesn't seem to recognize a "critical battery state". It
just shows the menu where to choose from "logout", "shutdown", etc. and

Yeah well, it still does not see itself in the workgroup. I was able to
see it form a another Karmic machine, but after restarting the server,
the Karmic server sees no machines. You have to laugh at the state of
samba in Ubuntu at this point. Not once have I had a consistent
experience with samba.

Actually, I think I was moving a file "i.e. mv file.mkv /mnt/md0/Films"
and wanted to open up a new terminal (instead of backgrounding the task,
so I clicked file "open terminal" which normally works perfectly fine,

other than the updates that got pulled down and rebooted this morning.
My machine sees all the other machine shares, and no longer ask me for a
password. But I can't see my own machine as a sharing machine in the
workgroup.

I can almost gaurantee it is not, but instead a Pulse / ALSA thing.
Sound under GNU/Linux has always been a mess and Pulse was not without
its contribution.

I have tested using Karmic and OpenOffice.org-core 1:3.1.1-5ubuntu1
(taken from the Help >About box). My standard test using the file
Polly2.odg (see #14 above) opened from a Windows XP SP3 network share,
deleted 2 frames and saved back to the network share. I did not find a
problem.

As a followup:
After burning the same DVD+RW media with K3b, Brasero now recognises the
media and seems to want to allow me to burn onto it. I don't understand
what is so special about burning onto it with K3b. Blanking it under
Win7 with CDBurnderXP didn't change anything before this.

Still does not work for me. 9.10 64 bit, no gstreamer0.10-gnomevfs
installed. Think I'll just remove rhythmbox since VLC and movie player
have no issues playing network shares. Rhythmbox is not worth fooling
with.
