version were you using (dpkg --status vino)? Using a composite desktop
("Visual Effects") would run slower - this was fixed in vino 2.25.4.

working for me. Note that the menu items are only visible when a
bookmark (and not a host nearby) is selected in the side panel.

1, saving, closing and re-opening it, the choice remains 1, so I cannot
reproduce this.

I think Totem fails to identify that the codec is missing, or the codec
is broken. In any case the mpg file fails to play.
I have noted that a number of movie files types suffer from this
problem.
If it is a codec problem may I suggest that totem have a manual button
added, called "search codec"

Well, I can confirm this on Jaunty. On the other hand, since in fact the
rendering is corrected after 2-3 seconds, this would have to be a veeery
low priority bug. Thanks anyway
