I am using Ubuntu 8.10 (intrepid), and the problem still exists. If you
click and drag over the icons, the emblems are redrawn. Also you can
ctrl-2, ctrl-1 and they are also redrawn. Maybe the actual problem is

I only have Hardy on both of my computers: Looks like it will stay a

This error has also been seen by me. I have just done a clean install of Jaunty
Alpha2 64 bit (which comes with kernel 2.6.27-7!) I then did a system update
via the update icon that was displayed (in top righthand corner of desktop) and

downloaded the source and found were 'battery.charge_level.design' was
used in src/gpm-cell.c. Instead of changing that, however, I just

I have the same issue on a Dell precision M4300. It also happens when not using

they're both set to gnome and the trash works fine. Has for the install,
I didn't go through to normal installation since my install is a dist-
upgrade from gutsy.

There are not available debug packages for the gnome libraries in jaunty
yet. So I don't know how to get the proper traces... Anyway, I'm sending
valgrind, strace and xsession-errors.

I found an interesting fact about this bug.
I installed ubuntu 8.10 inside windows XP using wubi installer. This
crash does not occur in it. The I did a full system update and
restarted. I could not reproduce this bug under that installation
however.
May be then this is related to ext3 filesystem
