First noticed this after reinstalling 8.10. I have a two disk setup and use the
second disk as "/home".
I have a Nvidia GeForce7600 video card. I am using the graphics driver 177, but
it happened with driver 96 too.
Just confirming that this bug also exists in Jaunty with the standard
ubuntu-desktop setup. I am using the nVIDIA 180.11 drivers supplied by

I've been working on this too. It looks like a bit of a mess. We need to
fix two issues. One is the lack of x-mswinurl support, including loading
the url in a default browser (see script above)
And then we have the problem that the magic glob doesn't choose the
right mime type for mswinurl files.

I had exactly the same problem and the only way to resolve that was deleting
enought files to allow archivemail to handle 4 gigas (two for the Inbox file
and two others for backing up it seems). Once I had space enough it worked well.
So, you need to make more space on your hard disk.
My python 2.6.1 install caused all kinds of other problems and I reverted
back to Ubuntu 8.04 so the chess problem no longer exists, is there any way
I can remove the bug report? I want to be a responsible bug reporter.

Hi, another error issued wit another home made DVD: here you are

i think Pedro was just helping you collect relevant data so we could
look at why the bug happened and if it's reproducible on another machine
so we could fix it more easily. I don't think he was saying the wiki
would fix the problem, that happens later - i think.

Never mind. You might want to add instructions to the Wiki pages
referenced above to say something like "Don't try to run the downloaded
files in /usr/lib/debug, they are just debug symbols." I had never
heard of the concept of this in Linux, and I have no idea how they are
found. Nevertheless,

I can confirm the results using the steps from the report:
I've the text "foo \ bar" in the main editbox.
I copy (or just select it), and then open the "Replace" window (Search >
Replace).
When pasting in one of the two editboxes , the text is converted to "foo
\\ bar" instead of "foo \ bar"
