OK, I opted to wipe Ubuntu and re-install (thank goodness for
aptoncd...)
I did all updates, installed the nvidia 173 driver and then added the
gstreamer ugly. I then grabbed the mpeg from my windows partition,
copied it into /home/* and attempted to play it with totem. Totem asked
Oh silly of me. Ive attached the log file, for some reason I couldnt
open it with gedit? but i could with nano in the terminal.
Im using the latest version in the 8.10 repo's, which is
0.5.0.3-0ubuntu4.
I plugged my camera in and tried to attach a photo to the tag "12345"
but it did not work. Is
It happened to me again this morning. I was able to go to console and
kill gnome-screensaver. When i got back to the gui I had to still kill a
crashed window of gnome-screensaver (it was just a white block). To be
able to lock my screen again I had to also start gnome-screensaver again
via cli. Fun

to have to retype my password I get in. If it hangs on checking I can

This has happened twice. The only thing I can relate to the two
incidents is watching a movie on Totem Movie Player.
Basically the clock freezes in the panel (this has caused me to get
almost no sleep one time already :p). See attached.
Rebooting/Ctrl+Alt+Backspace/Removing
After reading the last comment, I tested with Master instead of PCM.
Master is significantly smoother for me. (I'm running Intrepid now.)
That said, it's not perfect. I'm still able to get the volume bar to
jump around.

Not sure if this is a Nautilus or a codec issue:
I am running Intrepid with all updates as of today nov 11 '08.
I have mplayer, vlc (with all required codecs for vlc), xine installed and
gstreamers from good, bad and ugly, plus win32codecs.

In intrepd (and I'm not sure if this is a change or not), this still
happens, but only with PCM. Changing the applet slider when it's
controlling PCM causes things like the LR balance to unlock, and the
channels end up out of kilter, and jump around and so on. With master it
moves smoothly.

How would I go about doing mounting my gvfs under /tmp? This bug is

As per Murphy's (or whoever) Law, after filing the bug I've found the
solution/work-around.
I went into the Gimp preferences and added ~/.fonts to the fontpath.
After that Gimp seemed to function normally, though I haven't tested
everything.
The question remains, however, as to why it wouldn't wo
"New folder was already selected, by pressing two times return you could save
your file."
If I remember correctly, only one "enter" was needed after it was named,
because you were already put inside the folder. Just leaving focus on the new

There is no crash report. As I said before, Rhythmbox closes just as if
you were the one to close it. Apport doesn't run, no crash report is
generated. It just closes on its own. So I suppose that means this bug
will now be ignored and simply won't get fixed. Wonderful.

One further comment, just by looking at the output of 'ps auxwwm', I can
see that rhythmbox is starting a new thread every couple of minutes more
or less. This almost certainly coincides with the start of each new
song. So the bug would seem to be that these threads are not correctly

See, In a Fujitsu-Siemens V5515 I can compile the graphics drive wich I
could with 8.04, however I can sucess
I had my hard drive on /dev/md1 and /dev/md2 instead of the usual
/dev/sda1 type devices. It's a couple of hard drives running as RAID 1.
Each drive has 3 partitions, 10GB of data, 1 GB of swap, and 700GB of
more data with a different mount point.

What kind of «lshw » it's necessary to send to see what kind of mistakes
have this kernell, because the burner cd works fine in another machine,
such as a Fujitsu-Siemens V5515, therefore, the LiveCD in these one
don't pass from the BusyBox freeze there.
