Some further experimentation reveals that the places menu still shows the disk
after unmounting (but not unplugging) - when unplugged the disk is removed from
the places menu.
So probably this is only a nautilus issue. Also very occasionally the

Well, I created a file in my home directory (which is where I produce
this in my test) without issue, and I couldn't reproduce it in the new
file. It seems to just be with any already existing file from before
upgrading to 8.10.

doing rm -rf .gconf/apps/nautilus removes this problem for me, but when
I go into the nautilus preferences and change the default icon size from
100% to 150%, the problem comes back (nautilus insatiably chews up CPU
and memory). If I try switching the default icon size back, nautilus
remains in the

I am experiencing the same problems:
When adding songs rythmbox just segfaults.
On request i can try to provide debugging information. Please give me
some guidance / hints on how to best provide the information needed.
It is a 4gb Ipod with video screen.

If I select "Gnome" (default), X starts without DRI (glxgears reports it
missing) making compiz impossible to use.
If I select "failsafe terminal" and then type 'gnome-session' to start
gnome, DRI is present, and compiz works fine.

When I try to play any video file on the movie viewer and error message
appears that reads: "An Error Occorred - The audio device is busy. Is
another application using it?".
The video doesn't play and just stops there.
Rhythmbox works fine. System
good to know, but please consider:
1. this bug was reported for Hardy
2. Hardy LTS will survive Intrepid by far with regard to updates.
So, when does the fix come for Hardy?

At the present, I have found no better solution than running ssh-agent
plain and then, in every single terminal I open,
