only with the version in -proposed that you see this, or are the buttons
broken in the Hardy released version as well. If it's only in -proposed,
then that's an introduced regression that needs to be addressed before
the -proposed

I'm running Kubuntu Hardy and I can change System/Desktop Effects to
"None" and it turn Compiz off for the rest of that session but Compiz
comes back after next reboot.

The problem of having to make four SMB connections to get to a password
prompt, instead of two, is a matter of deep dbus magic, from what I can
tell; the first run through, a dbus ID is missing that's needed in order
to spawn the dialog, so the connection fails until the second time when

I have fully upgraded it except for samba (samba, samba-client,
libsmbclient...), and it works. So you can imagine what causes the
trouble... Some minor change in Samba has made this happen. I only have
to upgrade samba and test, but obviously, it should fail (I'm doing it
when I finish my film).

The patch to gvfs causes an automatic retry if kerberos authentication
or anonymous connections fail - without looking at why the connection
failed. That means that in the event of a network timeout, the user has

Hi Aaron,
If you set up the drive in your fstab to be auto mounted at boot time it should
work. There is lots of info in the ubuntu forums about fstab ("file system
table"), but the simple edit is:
1) find out the device name using "mount". It should be something like
/dev/sda#.

I encounter the temporary Nautilus freeze, too, when dragging files over
