No problem with the comment Sitsofe, the bug is about a "runaway leak in
composer" which looks different from a crasher which is what your

It goes beyound Ubuntu not showing keyboard previews and looking ugly.
There are other applications that depend on XkbGetKeyboard. In my case,
it's Superkb. This application doesn't run at all in Ubuntu 6.10 because
of the bug. It worked in Ubuntu 6.06 LTS.

More info: I've updated the Fedora box to FC 6 and now it gives me the
well-known error message about the GNOME Settings Daemon failing to
start. The desktop environment does come up about a minute later
however.

I have the same symptoms when using Xming to set up an XDMCP connection
to my Ubuntu laptop on a local network. If I start up a VMWare Player
with a LiveCD version of Ubuntu I can start a new login, press F10 and
then log in to the laptop. Logging in to a Fedora station is no problem
with Xming as
Edgy. I'm using an unmodified version.

Btw, a friend told me that after applying this patch his other mp3
player (Trekstor i.beat rock) was detected as an iPod also (but he was
able to access it).

yeah, this is fixed in feisty. but due to discussion with the maintainer of
this package... this won't be getting offically fixed in dapper or edgy.
there are 3'rd parties who have fixed this in their own builds of rhythmbox on
edgy & dapper or you could update to feisty which is currently exper

Same Problem on a Acer Ferrari 5005WLHi AMD Turion 64bit X2 2.0GHz
Processor, 2 GB RAM, 160GB S-ATA HDD, Toshiba DVDW/HD TS-L802A Laptop
with 6.06 LTS amd64 installed.
Used the python cdcaps.py /dev/hda and it worked partial, means I can now sudo
mount /dev/hda /cdrom and work with the CD/DVD. No
I can confirm the crash, but this isn't a beagle problem, ssindex ships
with gnumeric, and they hold the code.

I uninstalled edgy after a kernel-panic, so I'm not running edgy at the
moment.Actually, do you mean by "that bug" the halting-problem or the
Gnome-freeze-problem? About the latter, I've just booted 3x using
runlevel 2 and the problem does not occur anymore! I suppose in the
meantime that i've set
I'm not with the system right now, but it's a default Edgy install. So
that should mean it's ALSA, right?
