As the discussion and tests in bug #66104 shows, what Wenzhuo
experienced is a probably a well known (at least among input method
people) bug. This bug usually shows up when user uses XIM (therefore
using other GTK or Qt IM module seems to make this bug disappear), and
is not restricted in GNOME.

Crash on open
I find evolution eats all my RAM if I leave it unattended for several
(~8) hours and return. Any idea if it's the same bug? Is there a
workaround? I have 1GB RAM and at least 1GB of swap so can usually shut
down evolution (even if it takes 10 minutes to drop to a terminal).

Back once again. I just checked if the patch applies against the exact
dapper version and found out that I was accidentally working with the
edgy source as the patch did not make any sense there. Of course, the
gdm that was installed was (accidentally) from early edgy as well
(despite /etc/apt/pref
that one has "GraphicalTheme=Human" too. Do you have edgy-gdm-themes
installed? The artwork has been splitted and if you don't have ubuntu-
desktop installed and didn't use the dist-upgrader tool it's likely you
didn't get that new package installed

I've tried with a daily CD yesterday, that works fine. You are using
1.9.5.1, the bug is supposed to be fixed since 1.9.7 so that's normal
you still get the issue. Marking as duplicate of bug #59690, feel free

Problem solved after removing all references to the wireless interface
in /etc/network/interface. eth1 in my case

The gdm.conf has a "GraphicalTheme=Human" which seems to be correct. Do
you have anything to /var/log/syslog about that? Could you try with the
Debug key set from gdmsetup?

"Very likely" means that it segfaults on the same line as the other
bugreport says and the cause is a rather obvious possibly NULL pointer
that was not handled in the previous version. I will confirm the
functionality if it doesn't crash in a few days (production system).
