Actually on Edgy, I can't reproduce this. I created a new user, logged
in, opened gnome-system-log. I didn't belong to the 'adm' group but I
got no error messages. However, only /var/log/cups/cups_error and

In Edgy, the network-admin tool show multiple interfaces using the same
name for the different interfaces (see screenshot). This way, it is hard
to pick the right interface to configure.

edgy one doesn't match panel color at the moment. What sort of
background do you use? An image? A transparent one? Does it happen with
rhythmbox too by example? What architecture do you use?

Here are the values:
/apps/metacity/general/focus_mode: sloppy
/apps/metacity/general/focus_new_windows: smart
It's hard to take a screenshot of it as the only visual indication is
the cursor in gnome-terminal (in other apps it will just appear as
missing cursor)
It's not gnome-terminal specific
