sync box many times but on most days I find that my system time is wrong

Can you try sudo apt-get remove --purge gnome-session. than sudo apt-get
install gnome-session. Also try this with gdm.

actually, 2.6.15-23 seems to work fine it just seems like a problem with

I have the same problem (bug #53598) with Intel 950 graphics on a Core
Duo laptop (ThinkPad X60s). It is not a GL problem since it affects
Desktop animations.
It seems to be a problem with the 2.6.15-26 kernel but it is much MUCH
worse with 2.6.15-26

I also had no problem with the -686 kernels for a while, though I'm not
sure precisely when this became a problem. It is very likely that as you
say, only the 2.6.15 kernels are affected.
