Vincenzo, you are probably victim of the most irritating "feature" of
dpkg -l, it silently truncates the output strings. Use "dpkg -l
libgnomeprint2.2-0 | cat" or make a wide terminal window to see the
complete version string.

been set up by the gnome printer configuration interface, it contains

I had the same problem after a fresh install and then a full upgrade.
To fix it I had to reregister the gconf schemas
(howto here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=1164346&postcount=11)
