I dist-upgraded to Dapper last week and I noticed this bug yesterday.
I've got 768 MB of RAM, and gnome-cups-icon was around 20% of memory
usage. I killed it and this morning it is back around 7%. It seems to be
very slowly increasing while I did not print anything since yesterday.

I'm having the same problem too. When I'm not using headphones, my sound
card uses the 'Master' to control the volume, but when I'm using
headphones the volume control goes to 'Headphone'. The problem is that

Have you put noauto in your fstab?
If you can get it to boot with noauto, then a simple sudo mount

The problem does still happen. I haven't been able to determine what
causes it. Sometimes when I log in the shortcuts will work properly.
Other times they won't. Perhaps it is some strange combination of
settings that I have chosen. I will be doing a fresh install when
Dapper is released. I can let

I'm not running very fast here... 500 Mhz PIII, but that should be fine,
especially considering VLS and XMMS don't have any trouble, and it's not used

I had the same problem where I did a fresh dapper RC install and gnome
did not start. The problem was solved by removing the user from audio
group. If you add the user to the audio group again and the log out and
try to log in again, it will fail again. If there is a solution for this

I too am seeing this on a newly installed Ubuntu Dapper (ubuntu-6.06-rc-

the Tango index.theme file as follows:
Change "Size" from 48 to 96 and "MinSize" from 32 to 1 (for tree).

would exist saying the NTP socket is in use. Now ntpdate succeeds in
synchronizing and the clock is often off by 5-20 seconds. When I go back

arrow (so gaim is right)... Well, in evolution cancel is a white cross

I can finally report some good news. Now every time I try (using the
latest CD), I get the attached error dialog. The dialog is blank and
doesn't have any GUI buttons, but if I close it from the title bar,
ubiquity takes me back to the manual partition screen *and* my hard disk
isn't hosed. Hoo
