Have you tried to installed your nvidia drivers while you were in X-Windows? If so, you have to start in console mode (no graphics), then execute the rpm command with the force option, so it will overwrite the MESA drivers. The NVIDIA_GLX rpm seems to have the same library name as MESA.
I have a Geforce 2 MX video card mounted on a P5A motherboard. I use the
