I have upgraded the debian machine, and xdm is not working anymore. This only
for one user.
It seems that the issue is due to auth. It works well with tty and all other
users, and also with deleting all data and so on.

Thanks for the trick. -Well the solution is nice but bit artificial.
I was wishing a little additional button onto the wdm which lists the WMs
and let the user choose it, bit like gdm for instance.

I did try the .xsession, but this is only a console based solution.
A little tiny mini icon somewhere on it would be so great for selecting the
windows manager ...

By default, at fresh install, no X is working, so why it is a
