oops, my first question was unnecessary; "Now that David pushed X.org 7.3 to unstable" implies that we'll need to upgrade to unstable to get the dvi to work. my second question nevertheless applies, as it's worth recording here whether other stuff needs to happen, like installing xrandr or anythin
