display resolutions (it centers the viewport to a certain window).

the same happens with the shipped i810 driver, so as i guessed, it is
not nvidia specific, but an error of the core code.

While xserver-xorg 6.8.2 worked with the same kernel and config, since
the upgrade to 6.9.0 I get the following oops, as a result Xorg dies
and the screen stays black:
