With the last update, my xkb config (below) does not work anymore.
This means the alt and meta keys doesn't work, and also not the
"internet" keys. This makes it impossible to write eg $ and @, and
that is rather bad IMHO.

Something deep in xlibs tries to open :0.0 when DISPLAY is set to
somethnig different. It happens also with DISPLAY=1.0. Propably only
when DISPLAY is in the local machine though. I have tried to find a
small program that exhibits this, but have

No, I haven't tried recently. Please close if you cannot reproduce.
It was a real PITA when I discovered it, but I cannot test it now.
