Hi, you can close the bug. I did some further debugging and found, that it is not really X11-related. Actually, it was a problem in the reiserfs of my home file system. Whenever the X11/gdm accessed my .Xauthority with fcntl64() the kernel immediately froze. A fcsk and removing the file solved
