The ppc macs made the same transition a few years ago. It's actually
an integrated code base for ADB support now.

computer seem to hang when using a new font. This is particularly
noticeable when using CJK fonts. It doesn't block when a font server (on

Does anyone have a suggestion for the Xinerama G450 dual-head bug except
to wait for the XF folks to fix it in 4.3? It hangs both KDE and GNOME
when turned on. Rollback to 4.1 is the only sure-fire fix.

Why was xorgcfg removed from the package?
Some people use it. It configures some options that debconf doesn't.
Please put xorgcfg back in this package, or maybe package seperately.

The layout determines which screens are actually controlled by the X
server. I use this to switch between single head and DualHead(tm) on my
G400. I don't want the second head to be configured all of the time, since
it's hooked up to my TV set :)

Any tips would be appreciated. For the time being I have disabled MIT-SHM
shared memory within imlib and that has solved the problem (although
enlightenment's pager complains).

It sounds like you have the old xlibgl packages on your system. I was
getting the same behavior when I upgraded from phase2v5 (or thereabouts)
to phase2v13.
The fix:
apt-get remove xlibgl1 xlibgl-dev
apt-get install xlibmesa3 xlibmesa-dev
Hope this helps.

I run tests of a project that needs an X server on a nightly basis. For
years I've been running them off-screen using Xvfb. I start an
instance:
Xvfb :52 -screen 0 1024x768x24 -fbdir /tmp/xvfb.52 -ac
and then run tests with "DISPLAY=:52".
