I can confirm this for my HP Compaq 615. I'm glad the old versions can still be
downloaded, since precise scrolling using the touchpad is impossible with the
new version.

As I've been bitten by this bug now (#666452) I tested some upstream releases.
1.5.99.2 and 1.5.99.3 both had the same problem and everything works fine with
1.6.0. So c1a5a70b51f12dedf354102217c7cd4247ed3a4b [1] seems to have fixed the
issue.

Another user confirms. I am using MacBook 4,1 and have the same symptoms
as Adrian. That is: scrolling is very difficult. It works, but is PITA.
Also finger press clicks doesn't work (ClickFinger2 and ClickFinger3)
even though these are configured properly (at least synclient -l shows
