Hello!
I've tried 2.6.38 and 2.6.37 kernels with similar results
even more 2.6.38 didn't booted.
Definitively its hard to get linux working on the Dell inspiron 2600
laptop.
By now I'm using the vesa driver to get Xorg working but I can't
switch to the text consoles and came back X because I only
reassign 619019 linux-2.6 2.6.32-31

My external screen shakes when I connect it over VGA.
The machine is a Thinkpad T410s with an i915 Intel controller.
Of course, Windows works fine VGA output.
