I'm sorry for forgetting to answer the last question. The computer

Per the upstream bug report, this is fixed in kernel commit
aaa3d08c357dcfbe13ec23786c294759183a4d8d, which is
included in 2.6.38-rc6. Apparently the new nouveau took advantage of
a broken kernel feature or something like that -- I'm not really sure
of the details, so I don't know whether you also

I've tried a few times to get a backtrace, but every time try to attach GDB
to the process, it freezes up. I'm going to try again, to tell you exactly
