When configure the xwindow system whith Sun E250 on Display controller:
Texas Instruments TVP4020 [Permedia 2]. This because xorg does not
support multiple PCI bus's on Sun whih driver glint with kernel 2.6.
The result of lspci is:

The brightness control keys on my Thinkpad R60 stopped working in X
some time ago. I have probably upgraded both kernel and X.org since
then, and don't know exactly when it broke.

I had a chance to upgrade and test. Alas no luck. Long directory scrolling in
small xterm window quickly freezes X.

Note how both windows were created before the second compiz instance
started, which contradicts your theory.

The *60 and *61 series of ThinkPads require proper brightness support

are there any plans to update current compiz packages to compiz-fusion?

So xfwm4 would be causing a lockup of the X server? Or is it a lockup of
the window manager that looks like but isn't a lockup
