for ksynaptics, I need to enter "SHMConfig on" into the touch pad
section of xorg.conf. When I do this, I lose all debian automatisms
since the xorg maintainer scripts notice that the file was manually
changed.

is 6.9.0, kernel 2.6.19.1, videocard SiS300 32MB AGP (not on board).

Not sure this is a bug in xterm, but the following problems don't occur
with rxvt.
Xterm doesn't behave correctly when there are bold characters in screen,
when using TERM=xterm-debian or TERM=xterm-xfree86, but no problem when

the current version fails to build on GNU/kFreeBSD.
It needs small tweaks, see attached patch.
It would also be nice if you can ask upstream
