once again, I've forgotten to tell you that I've tried to apply a
given patch for this problem. After applying this patch I've restarted
X, but no to no avial so far.

could you please close my bugreport, after fiddling here for some
hours to get a quick solution i actually found out, that deleting the
xkb option: alt:meta_win did finally the trick.

My problem looks much like the one described here but is a bit more generic:
no Ctrl+modifier+... key combos work. I can't switch to text consoles
(Ctrl+Alt+Fn),
can't open new tabs in gnome-terminal (Ctrl+Shift+T) etc. but
