i have this problem . Checking with xwinfo and xrestop the error
appear when i have 30 clients for around 120 (a bit more, when
the problem appear xwinfo and xrestop cannot start) windows.
I attach the xwinfo -root -children of when i cannot start a new
client.

It looks like xserver-xfree86 is not to be blamed, and the problem
is KDM- and/or kdelibs-specific.
I have pulled in an upgrade for KDE today, including kdelibs,
and got the following notice during the latter package conf

I have been experiencing the same problem with xserver 4.3.0.dfsg.1-10,
even with noexec=off. The symptoms were signal 11 on first xfree module
load and strace showing that mprotect failed with EINVAL.
The problem was that the address passed to mprotect wasn't aligned to
the pagesize (4096).

failure condition by making sure that input and output are at
