when i exec startx, the server starts up fine, but when the monitor

and i see a screen. i also forgot to include what kind of monitor it is.
just a good old apple 15" multiscan.. seems to have seen some action,

I can reproduce this, haven't dug very deep. It's probably because the
process that's being signalled is running as root (while the signal isn't
issued as root). If I run w/o the setuid, it does close with no problem.
