I have seen this reported on the Xfree86 lists and previously on here.
Xfree86 (the binary) running at 100% yet the console is blacked out
and unresponsice.
Running either startx or XFree86 with strace yields no obvious errors
and Xfree86.log doesnt show anything untoward either.
