something else came to mind, have you tried putting in the int10 module
for X? That will try to softboot the video card instead of let the X
drivers do it.

Hmm... I think I had this happening with my MX400. Which AGP driver are
you using? I think NVdriver works better with that intel chipset. I
remember going though nVidia's documentation and saw it mumbling about
using Ndriver for the BX chipset. You could try putting in Options

have you ever experienced $subject? The screen just 'hangs', the PC
works fine and I see only garbage on the screen, can't swith to console
back anymore. It happens in 10% on my nVidia Riva TNT 16MB card (Diamond
Viper 550), with Intel 440BX chipset, 2.4.18, with & without the most
recent nVid
