In xlibs_4.2.0-0pre1v2 there are some remains of libXIE and libPEX:
janus:~# dpkg-deb --contents xlibs_4.2.0-0pre1v2_i386.deb | grep "PEX\|XIE"
lrwxrwxrwx root/root 0 2002-08-05 20:21:38 ./usr/X11R6/lib/libXIE.so.6
-> libXIE.so.6.0
lrwxrwxrwx root/root 0 2002-08-05 20:21:38 ./usr/

But, according to the log, they don't exist. It's been suggested that
modules "pex5" and "xie" are deprecated (which could explain their not
being able to be loaded ;-).
They are no longer supported and no longer built by default. No major
application uses these extensions.

config included the modules "pex5" and "xie".
But, according to the log, they don't exist. It's been suggested that
modules "pex5" and "xie" are deprecated (which could explain their not
being able to be loaded
