I tried with the free nv driver and can confirm that the bug does not occur
with this driver. I double-checked by installing again the closed source
driver from Nvidia and the bug was there again.

You're using the binary nvidia driver, it's not clear whether the bug
comes from this driver or from the X server. Could you try with the free
nv driver (install package xserver-xorg-video-nv and change nvidia to nv
in section Device in /etc/X11/xorg.conf). It the problems disappears,
