Does this problem still occur with the latest release of Xorg packages
that are currently in unstable, I mean at least xserver-xorg-core 1.3?
If so, we really need a backtrace of the crash. You should have one at
the end of Xorg.0.log right after the crash (or in Xorg.0.log.old if you
