i have the same or a similar problem running debian etch in a vmplayer
virtual machine with xorg-server-core v2:1.1.1-20. X crashes several
times a day, usually when working in konsole.
the backtrace is:

Since I've only seen this once, me trying 2:1.1.1-17 wouldn't answer
your question about whether this has been fixed recently :-(.
