The problem on Ubuntu is "solved". I had been using the vesa driver
(in /etc/X11/xorg.conf), changing to the ati driver (as what I have)
fixed the problem. Oddities: "cat /proc/mtrr" thought I had 128MB
only, setting "VideoRAM 262144" in xorg.conf (for the ati driver)

6.06 "dapper" to 6.10 "edgy", e.g. with
