Things work still fine without RgbPath line in xorg.conf and symlink.
I'm not using a xorg.conf generated by Debian, because it doesn't work on my
pc, so I just use the knoppix generated xorg.conf.
When reporting this I forgot to check that with a debian generated xorg.conf.

The '(**)' indicates that your xorg.conf contains an RgbPath line. Do
things work without symlink if you comment that out?
