Hi,
this looks like a duplicate/consequence of #1094494 so I'm merging the bugs.

Hi Michael, I tried that, but it seems that it has the side effect of making
lightdm restart when upgrading, which is not really a good idea when you're
actually in a X session.
Any idea how

Hi John,
it uses the modesetting DDX driver by default, not fbdev, but it's good to
know that changing to the intel DDX workarounds the issue.

Also, for LightDM, we updated the code so the default PATH matches Debian

Indeed that's a good point, I'm also using xfwm4 4.13 from experime
, then the white screen.
Disabling compositing in xfwm4 workarounds the problem but then you lose
all compositing-related features.
The platform is a ThinkPad X250 with Intel graphics (HD Graphics 5500 I
thinks, CPU generation is Broadwell)

I'm puzzled by the fact you indicate xrandr doesn't show a name change. It
might be worth diffing both Xorg.0.log, because quite obviously Xfce4

Now X has the same problem. The keys seems to have shifted somehow, under the

Any of the known settings don't work...
There doesn't seem to be a powerpc version of the -6 release.
