Hi!
Is there a valid reason why all CP1251 based locales are commented out in
/usr/share/X11/locale/compose.dir? This makes some X applications (which use
XOpenIM() call) unusable if locale ru_RU.CP1251 is used.

RU.ISO-8859-1 (which doesn't really make sense) or
LANG=en_US.ISO-8859-1 or maybe LANG=C.
But anyway, tell us what you did to generate your dejavu text samples.
Oh, tell us what your default locale is too. "env | grep LANG". Mine is
en_AU.UTF-8.
My default locale is ru_RU.CP1251. The attached script uses explicit
font names for both labels.

other packages you think might be relevant to the bug?
I have no idea about other packages (I'm not an X expert).
Thanks!

es now, but it's fairly easy to see
if the bug is gone. When I run (in etch)
xfd -fn '-*-arial-*-iso10646-1'
I see that ALL characters have the same accent and descent, which is
obviously incorrect.

When running wings3d (3D modeller, which uses SDL) on Nvidia video card
using "nv" video driver the whole X server crashes (segfault in
/usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libGLcore.so).
I've tried to run X with and without DRI. The

xserver-xorg uses incorrect TTF font metrics in iso10646-1 encoding.
I've noticed this comparing '-monotype-arial-*-iso10646-1' and
'-monotype-arial-*-iso8859-1' fonts (Arial from masttcorefonts package)
with xfd.
When the encoding is iso
