same display and the same
chipset. The chipset btw is a "Rage Mobility M3"
When I use other resolutions than 1600x1200, I get a garbled screen. I read

First time I installed lenny I had a garbled looking xserver on my Thinkpad
A21p. "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" was no sollution, since it was changed
not to configure any resolution or frequency data. There should be a fallback
semi-automatic configuration-p
