I had a brief conversation about that issue with a develeoper of compiz
on IRC (#compiz@freenode):
14:54:12 you can cite: 'A simple recompile of the
compiz(-gnome) package should be sufficient to get things in order again'
He could confirm the bug, tried to compile with some debugging

When I hoover over a thunar (xfce filemanager) icon in the taskpanel

Hi,
the subject says it all... in the pkg-config file of compiz it is shown as
required and compiz-dev seems to need xcursor (not very deep into that stuff).

I can confirm this bug. It seems this does not break all touchpads but at least
some.
I have a ALPS touchpad in a Toshiba Satellit 2100 Pro and after uprade it
breaks the
touchpad completely. Downgrade
